Crewman Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 27, 2026
Last updated: August 27, 2026

Crewman ("Crewman," "we," "us," or "our") operates a mobile marketplace that connects automotive customization businesses with independent installers. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you use the Crewman mobile application, website, administrative services, and related features (collectively, the "Service").

This Policy applies to Crewman's handling of personal information. Third parties such as Stripe and Clerk also process information under their own privacy policies, as explained below.

1. Information we collect

We collect information from you, from other Crewman users, from service providers, and automatically when you use the Service.

A. Account and authentication information

We collect your email address, phone number, account role, authentication identifier, session information, notification preferences, and account status. Authentication, passwords, email verification, and sessions are provided through Clerk. Crewman does not store your password in its application database.

B. Business and installer profile information

Depending on your role, we may collect:

Business approval is a limited platform review and is not a background check, license verification, insurance verification, or guarantee. Installer insurance information is optional and is not independently verified unless we expressly state otherwise.

C. Jobs, applications, and marketplace activity

We collect job titles and descriptions, vehicle counts, job addresses, dates, deadlines, expected duration, pricing and rate information, applications, application notes, proposed rates, offers, hiring decisions, milestone details, status changes, adjustments, cancellations, and completion history.

D. Communications and user content

We collect messages, selected photo attachments, portfolio media, reviews, ratings, written feedback, dispute statements, evidence, reports, strike responses, and communications with support. Messages are designed to serve as an immutable project paper trail and generally cannot be edited or deleted individually through the app.

The private "would work with again" review response is not shown publicly. We may use it as an internal marketplace-quality signal.

E. Payment, payout, and transaction information

Stripe processes payments and provides Stripe Connect payout accounts for installers. Stripe may collect payment-card or bank information, identity-verification information, tax information, and other financial information directly from you. Crewman does not store full card numbers or installer bank-account credentials in its application database.

Crewman receives and stores limited transaction and account information, such as Stripe account identifiers, onboarding and payout status, PaymentIntent, transfer and refund identifiers, milestone amounts and statuses, adjustment reasons, timestamps, and payout errors.

F. Address and location information

Crewman does not currently request continuous device GPS access. We collect addresses that users type into the Service, including business, installer base, and job addresses. When geocoding is enabled, we send the entered address to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service and store the resulting latitude and longitude. We use this information for distance calculations, radius filtering, sorting, maps, job coordination, and displaying relevant locations to marketplace participants.

An entered address may be a precise street address. Do not use a home address as your public installer base address unless you are comfortable sharing it with signed-in marketplace users.

G. Device, notification, and technical information

We may collect an Expo push token, device platform, token activity time, notification delivery status, read status, and in-app links. Notification content may include names, job titles, message previews, amounts, deadlines, dispute information, and account-enforcement notices.

Our infrastructure and service providers may automatically process technical information needed to operate and secure the Service, such as IP address, browser or device type, operating system, request timestamps, diagnostic logs, and security events. Your theme preference is stored locally on your device.

H. Safety, support, and administrative information

We collect reports, report reasons and details, dispute records, evidence, strike records, suspension status, administrative notes, and audit logs. Authorized Crewman administrators may access information when needed to verify businesses, address support requests, investigate reports, administer disputes, enforce the Terms of Service, protect users, or comply with law. Certain sensitive administrative access is logged.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to:

We may create aggregate or de-identified information for operations, security, marketplace health, and product improvement. We do not attempt to reidentify information that has been properly de-identified unless permitted by law.

3. How information is shown to other Crewman users

Crewman is a marketplace, so some information is shared with other signed-in users as part of the Service.

Installer information

Installer profiles may show a name, specialties, base address, distance or map location, travel radius, availability, public calendar status, portfolio, story responses, social links, optional insurance carrier, badges, lifetime job count, reputation, reviews, and member-since date. Private calendar labels and insurance policy numbers are not intended to be public.

Business and job information

Business profiles may show a business name, specialties, address, reputation, reviews, and member-since date. Job listings may show the job description, job address, dates, deadline, pricing, and other project details.

Contact information

When an installer applies, the shop receives the installer's phone number and application details. The installer receives the shop's contact details when the shop sends a hire offer or the installer is hired. Users may then choose to interview by phone, text, video, or another off-app method.

Reviews and availability

Reviews are generally double-blind until both parties submit or the review window closes. Revealed reviews and reputation information may be visible to signed-in users. Public availability shows busy, partly booked, free, or booking-from status and relevant time windows, but not private calendar labels.

4. When we disclose information

We may disclose information as follows:

A. Other marketplace users

We disclose profile, job, application, contact, review, availability, message, milestone, and dispute information to the relevant users as needed to provide the marketplace and complete projects.

B. Service providers

We use service providers to operate the Service, including:

These providers process information under their own terms, privacy policies, and agreements with Crewman. Stripe may act independently as a controller for certain payment, fraud, identity, and legal-compliance purposes.

We may disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law, legal process, or a valid government request; enforce our agreements; investigate fraud or safety issues; protect the rights, property, or safety of Crewman, our users, or others; or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

D. Business transfers

If Crewman is involved in a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be disclosed or transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and appropriate protections.

We may disclose information when you direct us to do so or provide consent.

5. No sale of personal information or targeted advertising

Crewman does not currently sell personal information for money or other valuable consideration, share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use personal information for targeted advertising. Crewman does not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

Because we do not engage in these practices, the Service does not currently offer a "Do Not Sell or Share" link. We do not use browser "Do Not Track" signals to alter Service operation. Where required by law, we will honor applicable universal opt-out preference signals for any processing to which those signals legally apply.

If these practices change, we will update this Policy and provide any required notice, consent, and opt-out method before beginning the new processing.

6. Retention and account deletion

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, complete transactions, resolve disputes, maintain safety and reputation systems, comply with law, enforce agreements, and protect users. Retention depends on the type of information and why it is held rather than a single period for every record.

You may request account deletion in Settings → Delete account or by contacting us. Account deletion may be temporarily blocked while you have an active job, open dispute, unsettled payment or payout, payout error requiring support, or nonzero Stripe balance. These matters must be closed before deletion so that deletion does not strand funds or destroy an active dispute record.

When deletion is completed, Crewman removes or clears core profile and contact information, portfolio media, availability blocks, push tokens, and certain open marketplace content. We also attempt to delete the associated Clerk identity. Open applications are withdrawn, and unhired business job posts are cancelled and scrubbed.

Crewman retains certain records in pseudonymized form where reasonably necessary for transaction history, taxes, accounting, fraud prevention, safety, reputation integrity, disputes, legal compliance, and enforcement. Retained records may include completed or hired jobs, applications, milestones, payment identifiers, messages and message attachments, reviews and ratings, reputation aggregates, reports, disputes and evidence, strikes, notifications, connected-account references, and audit logs. The visible account name is replaced with a deleted-user label where supported.

Free-form content such as messages, reviews, job descriptions, application notes, and dispute evidence may contain personal information that a user included in the content. Contact us if retained content contains personal information that you believe should be reviewed or removed. We will evaluate the request against applicable legal, safety, payment, recordkeeping, and counterparty obligations.

Deleting a Crewman account does not automatically close or delete a separate Stripe connected account or information Stripe must retain under its own legal obligations. You may need to contact Stripe regarding information Stripe controls.

Residual copies may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or disaster-recovery systems and will be handled under our normal security and deletion processes. We may retain a minimal record of a deletion request to prevent reintroduction of deleted information and demonstrate compliance.

7. Your choices and privacy rights

Account and profile controls

You can review or update many profile fields in the app. Some marketplace records become locked or immutable to protect counterparties and transaction integrity. Your account role cannot currently be changed through the app.

Notifications and device permissions

You can control operating-system push permission and disable message and reminder pushes in Settings. In-app notification records continue to accrue. Money, job, safety, and other essential service notices may not be subject to an in-app mute. You can revoke photo-library permission through device settings, although doing so may prevent media uploads.

Privacy requests

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have the right to:

Crewman currently offers these core request options to U.S. users even where a particular state privacy law does not apply to Crewman, subject to identity verification, technical feasibility, and lawful exceptions.

To submit a request, email imonzir07@gmail.com with the subject line Privacy Request. To appeal a decision, use the subject line Privacy Appeal and explain why you believe the decision should be reconsidered. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and authority. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. If we deny an appeal where Virginia law applies, we will provide information about contacting the Virginia Attorney General.

An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law. We may require proof of the agent's authority and may need to verify the request directly with you.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. These include authenticated access, server-side authorization, access restrictions, payment processing through Stripe, and audit records for certain administrative actions.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your account credentials, maintaining control of your devices, and notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorized account access.

9. Children

Crewman is a professional services marketplace intended only for people who are at least 18 years old and legally able to enter contracts. The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Crewman, contact us so we can investigate and delete it as required by law.

10. U.S. service and data processing

Crewman is intended for use in the United States. Crewman and its service providers may process and store information in the United States and other locations where they operate. Those locations may have privacy laws different from the laws where you live.

The Service may link to Stripe dashboards, social-media profiles, websites, map services, or other third-party services. Crewman does not control those services, and their handling of information is governed by their own policies. Review those policies before providing information directly to a third party.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as the Service, law, or our data practices change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when required. If a material change would use previously collected information for a materially different purpose, we will provide any notice or consent required by law before applying that change.
